ON CAMERA LEVEL 2
In addition to learning how to bring to life the given circumstance in a script in an active and discernable way on camera, this course prepares actors to work on the set of professional films and television shows. Brief scenes are filmed the way films are shot: with master shots, stacked shots, over-the-shoulder, and close-up shots. The takes are edited into films, which are watched and critiqued. Various exercises on film are explored; and strong performances from well-known films are viewed and discussed. Upon completion of this course, students should demonstrate:
- Adapting expressiveness and scale of performance to the presence of camera
- Ability to quickly absorb directors’ notes with flexibility and confidence
- Analysis of recorded work
- Understanding and applying the technical acting demands of working on set
- Ability to sustain the fundamental acting qualities of believability and spontaneity
