Frequently Asked Questions

Youth Acting Classes FAQ

Do kids need prior experience to join your Atlanta acting classes?

No prior acting experience is required. Our youth and teen acting programs are designed for all skill levels, welcoming both complete beginners looking to build social confidence and experienced young performers refining their craft. We meet every student exactly where they are. Our instructors focus on building foundational creative skills in a safe, pressure-free environment, making it easy for new students to integrate into any session.

How do the 6-week acting rotations work at Actors Habitat?

Our youth acting programs run in ongoing, flexible 6-week blocks. This means families only commit to six weeks at a time, allowing training to fit around busy school schedules, sports, and family travel. Because the curriculum builds continuously, most students choose to re-enroll session after session. This ongoing structure allows young actors to maintain consistent training, deepen their performance skills, and build lasting friendships within the same peer group throughout the year.

Do your youth acting classes require a high-pressure final performance?

No. We focus on creative growth and skill-building rather than high-stress productions. We believe high-pressure environments can create unnecessary anxiety for young performers, so we keep our showcases supportive and casual.

  • For Young Actors ages 9–12, the 6-week rotation concludes with a low-pressure in-class showcase where family and friends can celebrate what the students have learned.
  • For Teen Actors ages 13–18, the final showcase takes place on camera, where teens review and analyze their favorite on-camera scenes and self-tapes from the session.
Are these teen acting classes only for kids pursuing professional careers?

No. Our classes benefit both aspiring professional actors and students who want to build everyday life skills. While we teach industry-standard on-camera and audition techniques, the core benefits of the training are universal. The focus required to analyze a script, the confidence gained from speaking clearly on camera, and the collaboration involved in scene work translate directly into real-world success. Students develop public speaking comfort, active listening habits, and stronger self-esteem that helps them thrive in school and social settings.

What happens if my child misses an acting workshop session?

If your child misses a class due to illness or travel, they will not fall behind. While consistent attendance helps students get the most out of the curriculum, our small class sizes make it easy to keep everyone on track. Simply notify our studio by email before class, and our team will ensure your child receives a supportive catch-up and personal guidance during their next scheduled session.

Who teaches the youth and teen acting programs at your Atlanta studio?

All youth and teen acting classes are taught directly by professional television actress and coach Dorian Brown. We do not pass our classes off to assistants or inexperienced instructors. Dorian brings real-world industry experience from major network projects including NCIS, Wilfred, and Mom straight to our Atlanta acting studio. We also keep class sizes limited so Dorian can provide personalized attention, custom feedback, and a nurturing environment for every student.

Give Your Child a Place to Create, Connect, and Grow.

Whether your child wants to act professionally, build confidence, make friends, or simply find a creative space where they can be themselves, Actors Habitat gives them a supportive and serious place to begin.
